ANNOUNCE $10,000 CONTRIBUTION TO FIELD SCOVELL SCHOLARSHIP FOUNDATION Comerica Bank New Year’s Parade Benefits Education While Showcasing Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex to Tens of Thousands of Visitors 2009 Parade Set for New Year’s Day Afternoon in Downtown Dallas ![]() “We’re pleased that the Comerica Bank New Year’s Parade provided a family-friendly celebration for tens of thousands of people in Downtown Dallas while helping deserving local students attend college,” said Ralph Babb, chairman and CEO, Comerica Incorporated. “With continued support from the community, we’re confident that the parade will quickly become a favorite holiday tradition in North Texas.” “We are grateful to Comerica Bank and to all the parade sponsors, participants, volunteers and spectators for making the Comerica Bank New Year’s Parade a huge success,” said Bill Palen, president, J. Curtis Sanford Parade Committee. “It’s fitting that a community-minded sponsor like Comerica Bank team up with organizations linked to legendary Dallas names like the Sanfords and Scovells to benefit education.” “The Scovell Foundation is overwhelmed by the success of the Comerica Bank New Year’s Parade and by this generous contribution,” said Sue Scovell Lavender, daughter of Field Scovell. “Pop and Mom would have loved experiencing the parade with the thousands of people lining the streets of Downtown Dallas. We are grateful to Comerica Bank, the parade sponsors and the J. Curtis Sanford Parade Committee for supporting the parade and our Foundation.” The Field Scovell Scholarship Foundation provides thousands of dollars annually in scholarships for North Texas high school graduates with strong leadership abilities, high moral character, financial need and a connection to sports. Recipients must attend a university in the state of Texas or at a Big 12 Conference or Southeastern Conference school. The Comerica Bank New Year’s Parade is presented by the J. Curtis Sanford Parade Committee, a Texas non-profit corporation named in memory of the Dallas businessman who founded the AT&T Cotton Bowl Classic in 1937 to showcase the city of Dallas through the New Year’s Day football game. Mr. Sanford’s widow, Mrs. Betty Sanford, rode in the Dec. 31, 2007 parade, which was seen by tens of thousands of spectators and by several hundred thousand television and Internet viewers. “Celebrate Downtown!” was the parade theme and brought a focus to the rejuvenation of Downtown Dallas. The 2009 Comerica Bank New Year’s Parade is scheduled for New Year’s Day afternoon in Downtown Dallas in advance of the Jan. 2, 2009 AT&T Cotton Bowl Classic. ![]() Comerica Bank is a subsidiary of Comerica Incorporated, a financial services company headquartered in Dallas and strategically aligned into three major business segments: the Business Bank, the Retail Bank, and Wealth & Institutional Management.
